Hi Team,
Today I had my bone scan, looks like bones are cancer-free! Yay! Another victory down. Now all I have left on the scan front is the MRI on Friday, which will determine the exact size of my tumor and if it has spread to any lymph nodes. Which will allow us to finally give it a stage. But the really good news is with CT scan clear and Bone Scan clear, we are attacking a cancer that hasn't spread far, so this is totally doable.
On a separate note, I played basketball tonight with my girl's league - 'Frankies Girls' (incidentally Frankie's bar on Divisadero who sponsors us is for sale if anyone is interested!) I told my team that this would be my last game playing for a while, as I start chemo next Monday, and we rocked the bball court tonight. It felt great, we won in overtime on a hard fought battle. One of our star posts MZ was taking a free throw at the end (which ended up winning us the game) and I was visualizing blocking out the girl next to me with the same tenacity I am going to fight through this chemo. Poor girl. :-D
Tomorrow is chemo class and I'll be able to let you guys know exactly how many people I can bring to my bi-weekly parties, so stay tuned!

ReplyDeleteWassup!!!! You do realize that I am the original and Kona's own Basketball Jones!!! I was speaking to your dad last week and I really got charged up when he told me that you were still playing bball! LiAnne played in the Haile tournament after her chemotherapy treatments! She wore a scarf on her head, but there is a story behind the hair loss. Soon after her first treatment, her hair began falling off and it was the first time that I really saw her saddened by what was going on! So, that morning I said, "You cut off my hair and I cut off yours!" She laughed knowing how VAIN I was about my hair! However, we did it, she never looked back and wore the scarf knowing one day her hair would grow back even thicker! Well, that is exactly what happen.....for her! Unfortunately, my receding hair line was exposed and I didn't give a rip! Thus, til today I am as balled as a billiard ball!!!! Love you girl and I know that you will get back to playing bball! Proud of you for keeping the faith! We will talk hoops at a later time! Kahu b
ReplyDeleteOh Amy! I am so sorry this is happening to you. You are an amazing woman and will deffend yourself from BC with the tenacity you have on the court. "Poor cancer" is right. I am so glad you are sharing this with me. I have known many women who have fought this and have gone on to lead lives richaer than if they hadn't gone through this tough time. I hope you all the best and my thoughts will be with you during your recovery.
